Gladys Juanita Anderson

Funeral services for Juanita Anderson were held Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Diana Edwards and June Shannon accompained by Jean Ann Reed sang "Lily of the Valley," and "It Is Well." Pallbearers were Jerry Shannon, Harrison Roth, Farris Crawford, and Clifford Pope. Burial was in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Mo. under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home.

Gladys Juanita Anderson, daughter of the late Luther Napolean and Anna Mae (Vaughan) Scruggs, was born on June 30, 1911 in Scrivner, Mo., and departed this life on February 5, 2000 at the Bishops Glen Health Care Center in Holly Hill, Florida, following an extended illness. She was 88 years, 7 months, and 5 days of age.

Juanita moved from Jefferson City to Springfield, Mo. when she was a teenager, and she graduated from high school there. She later graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Library Science.

Juanita married Dr. William B. Anderson on May 26, 1935. One daughter was born to this union. They moved to Mountain Grove in January of 1936, and she was the high school librarian for 21 years. After their retirement, Dr. and Mrs. Anderson wintered in Florida for 26 years.

Juanita was converted and baptized at a young age, and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain Grove. She was also a member of Eastern Star.

Juanita kept herself busy with arts and crafts projects, and she also enjoyed word puzzle games.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. W.B. Anderson of Mountain Grove, her daughter Linda Ann Morgan of Ormond Beach, Florida, three sisters, Maybelle Owen of Willard, Mo., Lorraine Wormmeester of Caledonia, Michigan, and Barbara Dixon of Kirbyville, Mo.; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; other relatives and many friends.
