Obituary

Don Dunn

Funeral services for Don Dunn were held Saturday, August 31, 1996, at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Gene Edwards and Rev. Don Martin officiating. Greg Fisher, Teri Lynn Beeler, and Thad Beeler, accompanied by Teri Lynn, sang "I'll Fly Away" and "It Is Well With My Soul." Nancy Doty provided the processional and recessional on the piano. Pall bearers were Bob Lancaster, Jerry Shannon, Darrell Lindsey, Chris Dunn, Micah Poggemoeller, Noel Dunn, and Dwaine Dunn. burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartville, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home.

Don Dunn, son of the late Clifford and Hazel (Ward)Dunn, was born on March 11, 1928 at Odin, MO., and departed this life on August 29, 1996 at his home at Mountain Grove, MO., at 68 years, 5 months, and 18 days of age.

Don grew up near Hartville, and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948. He married Dotty Hughs on September 4, 1948, and six children were born to this union.

Don served students as both a teacher and administrator for over 30 years in public education. His interests ranged from music to sports, especially baseball, where he was active as a player and as an avid fan.

Don was a long time member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Mountain Grove. He was preceded in death by his mother and his father.

Don is survived by his wife, Dotty, of their home; three sons, Chuck Dunn and wife Marcia, Lebanon, MO., Steve Dunn, Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Mike Dunn, Mountain Grove; three daughters, Karen Fisher and husband, Terry, Granby, MO., Kathy Poggemoeller and husband, Dan, French Village, Mo., and Lori Fry and husband, Dwight, Mountain Grove; one sister, Beulah Walker and husband Bob, Richardson, Texas; nine grandchildren; two nieces; one aunt, Effie Todd, Hartville, Mo; as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
