Funeral services for Elva Elizabeth Dunn were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 16, 1986 in the Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James McQueen and Reverend G.H. Sublett officiating. A duet composed of Nellie Kemper and Helen Wilke sang "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" and "Near ToThe Heart of God." Rebecca Clary was the organist. Pallbearers were: Glen Kemper, Gale Lockwood, Norman Hutcheson, Harold Hardin, D.D. McCullough, and Tom Alsup. A.P.E.O. service was conducted at the cemetery. Funeral services were under the direction of Craig-Hurtt-Hutsell-Dedmon.
Elva Dunn Elizabeth Dunn, daughter of the late Samp and Minnie (Park) Letsinger, was born March 26, 1907, and departed this life April 14, 1986 in the St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, Missouri, following a brief illness. she was 79 years and 18 days of age.
Mrs. Dunn grew up in Douglas County and graduated from Ava High School in 1924. After graduation, she began teaching in rural schools. She also taught in Ava, Mansfield and Mountain Grove. The last Nineteen years of her career saw her as principal of the Mountain Grove Elementery School. She held a B.S. In Education from Southwest Missouri State and her Masters degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
Elva was married to John L. Dunn in 1926. She lived in Mountain Grove for about 30 years.
Mrs. Dunn was a member of the Mansfield Chapter No. 76 Order of the Eastern Star, the P.E.O., the Pi Lambda Theta and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sororities.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972. She leaves to mourn her passing one brother, John Letsinger of Mansfield, Missouri; one sister, Elsie Thompson of Mountain Grove; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
